Instructions For Authors

The International Journal of Health Disciplines (IJHD) is a peer-reviewed, Quarterly (4 issues/year), open-access journal dedicated to publishing high-quality research in health sciences, including clinical medicine, pharmacy, public health, biomedical sciences, and allied health disciplines. Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere.

Authors must carefully review and follow the instructions below prior to submission.

 


 

1. Manuscript Categories

IJHD accepts the following types of submissions:

  • Original Research Articles
  • Review Articles
  • Short Communications
  • Case Reports (with scientific justification)
  • Letters to the Editor
  • Editorials (by invitation only)

 


 

2. General Formatting

  • Manuscripts must be written in English (British spelling).
  • Use 12-point Times New Roman, double-spaced, with 1-inch margins.
  • Submit as a Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) file.
  • Pages must be numbered consecutively, starting from the title page.

 


 

3. Manuscript Structure

Your manuscript should be arranged as follows:

A. Title Page

  • Title of the manuscript (concise and specific)
  • Full names of all authors and institutional affiliations
  • ORCID iDs (recommended)
  • Email of the corresponding author

B. Abstract

  • Maximum 350 words
  • Structured format (Background, Methods, Results, Conclusion) for original research
  • Unstructured format for other article types
  • Provide 3–6 keywords listed after the abstract

C. Main Text

  • Introduction
  • Materials and Methods
  • Results
  • Discussion
  • Conclusion

D. Acknowledgements

  • Include funding sources and contributor recognition.

E. Conflicts of Interest

  • Authors must disclose all financial or non-financial conflicts.

F. Ethical Approval

  • For studies involving human participants or animals, ethical approval from a recognized ethics committee must be provided with the approval number.
  • IJHD adheres to the ICMJE and COPE guidelines on publication ethics.

 


 

4. Authorship Criteria

The journal strictly follows the authorship criteria defined by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). All listed authors must have:

  • Substantially contributed to the conception/design, data acquisition, or analysis
  • Drafted or critically revised the manuscript
  • Approved the final version
  • Agreed to be accountable for all aspects of the work

 


 

5. Reference Style – Vancouver

IJHD uses the Vancouver style for references. Citations must be inserted as numerals in square brackets [ ], in the order of appearance in the text.

In-text citations:

  • Example: “This was confirmed in a previous study [1].”
  • Multiple references: [1,2], [3–5]

Reference List:

  • Must be numbered according to the order of citation.
  • Follow these formats:

Journal Article:

Ahmad K, Liu M. Innovations in diabetes care. J Clin Pharmacol. 2021;35(4):233–9.

Book:

Smith R. Pharmaceutical Chemistry. 2nd ed. London: Elsevier; 2019.

Book Chapter:

6. Tables and Figures

  • Number and title all tables and figures sequentially.
  • Submit each figure/table on a separate page at the end of the manuscript.
  • Indicate placement in the main text (e.g., “Insert Table 1 here”).
  • Use high-resolution images (min. 300 dpi).

 


 

7. Abbreviations and Units

  • Define abbreviations at first mention in the abstract and main text.
  • Use SI units consistently.

 


 

8. Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism in any form is strictly prohibited. All submissions will be screened using reliable plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts with similarity index above the acceptable threshold will be rejected without review. The journal adheres to the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines in handling cases of ethical misconduct. The acceptable similarity index is below 15%, excluding references and methods.

 


 

9. Copyright and Open Access

All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), allowing full access, reuse, and distribution with appropriate citation of the original source.

 


 

10. Submission and Review

  • Submit your manuscript via submission portal.
  • All manuscripts undergo initial editorial screening followed by double-blind peer review.
  • The average review time is 3–4 weeks.
  • Decisions are based on originality, scientific rigour, clarity, and ethical compliance.
